Safe Shoe Program

Why do we have a safe shoe program?

The goal of the Safe Shoe Program is simply to increase safety and reduce the number of colleague injuries by providing slip resistant shoes at low prices. Our data tells us that since the introduction of the Safe Shoe Program, we have seen a steady decline in the number slip, trips and falls. We encourage you to take advantage of this voluntary program (applies to Mercy Health Saint Mary’s colleagues only).

What is the discount?

Nye Uniform already offers our colleagues a 25% discount on their products. All colleagues will be eligible for up to an additional 25% discount on select slip resistant shoes. Those in pay grades 13 and lower will be offered even more discounts (up to an additional 50% off)*. Nye Uniform will have a list of colleague pay grades.

*Some restrictions apply depending on the cost of the shoe purchased. Discounts are not to exceed $20 ($40 for those in grades 13 and below).

Example of savings:

Nye Uniform offers a wide selection of approved slip resistant shoes in various styles, colors and brands for both men and women – including Dansko, Klogs, Nurse Mates, Rocky and more.
Retail prices for slip resistant shoes can range from $54 – $120 depending on style and brand. With the additional discounts, these shoes will be offered at prices from $29 – $76 ($16 – $56 for those in pay grade 9 or lower).

How many pairs can colleagues purchase?

Colleagues are allowed to purchase two pairs of discounted shoes in a twelve-month period. Nye will track participation.

What if colleagues cannot make the sales dates?

Shoes can also be purchased at Nye Uniform if colleagues are unable to make the sale. Colleagues need to provide proof that they work for Mercy Health (name badge, pay stub).
